This 10-day Morocco itinerary takes you from the cosmopolitan streets of Casablanca through the ancient medinas of Fes, up to the blue mountain town of Chefchaouen, deep into the Sahara Desert for a night under the stars, through the dramatic gorges and valleys of the Atlas Mountains, and into the vibrant heart of Marrakech — with a final day on the Atlantic coast in Essaouira.

Your guide meets you at Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport and transfers you to your hotel. If your flight arrives before midday, we visit the Hassan II Mosque — one of the largest mosques in the world and the only one in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors. Its location right on the Atlantic Ocean, with waves crashing against its base, makes it one of the most spectacular buildings in North Africa. Afternoon at leisure to recover from your flight and explore the Corniche waterfront promenade.
Overnight: Casablanca – 4-star hotel near the Corniche
Morning departure for Rabat, Morocco’s capital city. Visit the Kasbah of the Oudayas — a 12th-century fortress with blue-and-white streets overlooking the Atlantic — the Hassan Tower, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. After a seafood lunch in Rabat, continue north through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, arriving by evening.

A full morning to explore Chefchaouen’s famous blue-washed streets at your own pace. This mountain town is one of the most photographed places in Morocco and one of the most relaxing. Wander through the medina, visit the Kasbah museum, climb to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint for panoramic views, and shop for local handicrafts and goat cheese. The atmosphere here is unlike anywhere else in Morocco — calm, colorful, and deeply charming. Afternoon departure toward Fes.

Drive: ~4 hours (Chefchaouen to Fes)
A full day exploring the Fes medina, the oldest and largest car-free urban zone in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site. With your local guide, you will visit the medieval Chouara Tanneries (where leather has been dyed by hand for centuries), the 9th-century Al-Qarawiyyin University (the oldest continuously operating university on Earth), the intricate Bou Inania Medersa, and the vibrant artisan quarters where coppersmiths, weavers, and potters still practice their crafts. Lunch at a traditional palace restaurant with panoramic views of the medina rooftops.
Overnight: Fes – same riad (second night)
Depart Fes and drive south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop at Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture and clean mountain air. Continue to the Azrou cedar forest, home to wild Barbary macaques — a wonderful photo opportunity. Drive through the dramatic Ziz Valley with its towering canyon walls and palm-lined oases, arriving at Midelt for lunch. Continue toward Merzouga, arriving at the edge of the Sahara Desert by late afternoon.
Overnight: Merzouga area – guesthouse or kasbah
Drive: ~7 hours (with scenic stops)
Morning at leisure in Merzouga. Optional activities: visit a local nomadic Berber family, explore the village of Khamlia for traditional Gnawa music, or take a 4×4 excursion through the dunes. In the late afternoon, the highlight of your trip begins: a sunset camel trek into the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Ride deep into the Sahara as the golden sand turns orange, pink, and purple. Arrive at your desert camp, where a traditional Moroccan dinner awaits under the stars. Berber drumming around the campfire, then sleep in your private tent beneath a sky with more stars than you have ever seen.

Wake before dawn and climb a dune for an unforgettable Sahara sunrise — watching the light spread across an endless sea of golden sand is a moment that stays with you forever. After breakfast at camp, ride your camel back to Merzouga. Visit Rissani, one of Morocco’s oldest trading posts and the birthplace of the current royal dynasty. Drive west through oasis towns to the towering Todra Gorge, where 300-meter canyon walls narrow to just 10 meters apart. Continue to the Dades Valley, known as the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.

Morning drive along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing through the Rose Valley (famous for its rose harvest in May) and the town of Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert” and home to Atlas Film Studios. Stop at the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou kasbah — one of the most photographed sites in Morocco and the filming location for movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 meters) before descending into Marrakech.

Drive: ~6 hours (with stops at Ait Benhaddou and Tichka pass)
Full day private guided tour of Marrakech. Explore the Bahia Palace with its stunning mosaic courtyards, the Saadian Tombs, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the serene Majorelle Garden. Dive into the legendary souks with your guide, discovering artisan workshops, spice markets, and hidden rooftop cafés. As evening falls, experience the magic of Jemaa el-Fna square — a UNESCO-recognized gathering of storytellers, musicians, snake charmers, and food vendors. Farewell dinner at one of Marrakech’s finest rooftop restaurants.

Explore the fishing port, walk the fortified walls, and enjoy the most relaxing day of your trip before returning to Marrakech for your evening flight.
Option B: If you have a late flight, enjoy a final morning in Marrakech — visit the Mellah (Jewish quarter), browse the souks for last-minute treasures, or relax with a traditional hammam spa session.
Transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport for your departure. If flying to the US, most international flights depart in the evening, giving you the full day to enjoy.
